It’s about 1am and I’m designing a datasheet for ShoutNow (a simple, easy, and fun mass voice messaging system). And, as I’m designing this I’m struggling! I just can’t seem to get the layout of the elements right.
What’s saving my sanity is the fact that this design is practically building itself. Since December, I’ve designed a logo, website, widget interface, and PowerPoint presentation for the ShoutNow brand, and I’ve been able to design all of these things with a consistent, cohesive design strategy. The secret weapon: a design kit!
The design kit for the ShoutNow brand includes: color swatches, fonts I’ved used, and common design elements. From there, the design builds itself. So, really, the only thing you really have to put a whole lot of thought behind is the composition and layout of the design. So, with that said, I better get back to work…
